Special General Meeting

For the last couple of months the club has had an acting president at the helm but now the show is safely over the committee is calling a Special General Meeting to elect a new president and (if necessary) a new vice-president.

This meeting is expected to be quite short and will be followed by our regular committee meeting.

- Special General Meeting: Tuesday, 11 June 2013
-- Time: 7.30pm
-- Location: Meeting Room, McDonalds, corner Ferguson and Princess Streets

Committee Meeting – 14th May 2013

- General:
-- The committee will investigate holding their meetings at the free community meeting room at McDonalds rather than hiring a room at the Leisure Centre.
-- Kate Leveridge was welcomed back on the committee.
-- Plans were discussed for getting more out of the club’s internet presence.

- Show De-brief - May 2013:
-- Since the show had few of the excitements (!) of last year the show de-brief mainly focused on suggested improvements for future shows.
-- Among the suggestions for improvement was the possibility of guides for the public, or at least somebody they can identify who can answer their questions about what is going on at the show.
-- The door take was again very good compared to the second Sunday in May (Mother’s Day), reaffirming the decision to make the change in date a permanent one.

- Show Business – May 2014 (60th All Breeds Show):
-- The committee is already listing things to do to make this two-day event ‘something special’.
-- The judges’ contracts are starting to come back.
-- Enquiries about sponsorship are underway.

2014 / 60th All Breeds Show: Our History

Not wasting a minute we’re already well into the planning of the 2014 show which is a special one as it will be our 60th All Breeds Show.

As my contribution I’m hoping to put together a history display but I need the raw materials; photos, memories, catalogues, anything anybody thinks would be of interest or useful for research.

Please get in touch if you have items or ideas or even if you can give me suggestions of people I might talk to about the 60+ years of club history.
