Show Set-Up: Helpers Needed

Could we please have some extra hands to spread the load for the set up on Saturday 2nd May. We're not asking people to commit to staying until the whole job is done – even an hour or so of your time would be much appreciated.

Let show manager, Paul Holden, know if you are planning to drop in and give us a hand.

Last Call for Raffle Prize Donations

We would appreciate donations of items to be part of this year's raffle prize(s).  It certainly makes it easier for our awesome people manning the door to sell raffle tickets if the prize looks well worth having.

Show Results

Please let us know your show results for the newsletter.  We are always interested in how the cats of Palmerston North Cat Club members are doing throughout the show season. Photos from the show are very welcome, too.

- Central Districts Cat Fanciers Association Show (11th April)

Australian Judge Kerry Fowler with Jasper
Two year old Jasper (pictured) is new to the show bench and not only didn't seem to mind his first show day but was also awarded 2 x 3rd Best of Breed and a 9th placing.

The other two Holden Maine Coons in attendance were Hobbie and Archie.  Archie received a Best in Show, a 3rd and an 8th placing and came 7th in the 'Top 20' of all the cats at the show.

Well done to the Holden family for a great day out with their Maine Coons.

Committee Meeting – 8th April 2015

The first meeting on the 'new' night - Wednesday night - at the usual location.  Thanks again to Kerry for the notes on the committee meeting.

- 2015 Show
Trophies - we had a couple of issues around the awarding of the trophies at our show this year. A number of options for resolving these issues were discussed. We were unable to find a satisfactory solution so the Committee decided to not award the trophies this year, and to minute them to be brought up at a Committee meeting well in advance of the show, so there is plenty of time to put solutions in place for next year.

Special Awards - the criteria for the awarding of the special awards was discussed.

Prizes - the allocation of prizes was discussed from Bayer, My Beau, and chocolates donated by Genevieve.

Advertising - discussed plans for an article by the Guardian, and confirmed signage will go out 2 weeks before the show

Catering - discussed plans for catering, particularly in regards to the judges and the meal after the show.

- General Business
Remits for the AGM discussed. The committee have an idea we would like to explore further, and plan to discuss this at the next meeting.

Next meeting is a special one later this month and will have a show focus.

- Next Meeting: Wednesday 22nd April 2015 (Show Meeting)
-- Time: 7.30pm
-- Location: Rumour Has It Cafe, 305 Rangitikei St, Palmerston North

History Notes - 1954

From both the Palmerston North Cat Club's history and the history of the Siamese breed in New Zealand, this ad from the 1954 show catalogue shows the local connection to New Zealand's earliest bluepoint Siamese.
