ProPlan

We want a special mention to go out to ProPlan.  As well as being show sponsors they ran a raffle on show day and donated the proceeds to the club.  Thank you, ProPlan!

Christine Calder won the ProPlan raffle.

Newsletter from Afar

Apologies for the late arrival of the newsletter though I have a better-than-usual excuse as I am overseas again, this time in Europe and the UK.  Although there is no cat fancy component to this trip I have still managed to find quite a few moggies (apparently) wanting to have their photos taken.

It took me a while to realise that these weren't photographs of the same Austrian cat despite the similarity of their markings and colouring. To the left is the cat photographed in Mondsee and to the right the cat photographed in Durnstein the previous day.

Thank You

There is no effective way to mention all of the people who helped with the show – who did the big jobs or the little jobs, who worked as stewards or handlers or scribes, who joined us at the show dinner, who helped by being helpful to those from out of town or to the judges from overseas - so here's a thank you from the Palmerston North Cat Club to everybody who made the show what it was.

Committee Meeting – 13th May 2015

As usual, thanks to Kerry Holden for supplying the meeting notes for this section.

- 2015 Show (Debrief)
Show went well, all very happy and proud of how it went and feedback has been positive.

Discussed the importance of matching people to the jobs by their abilities.

We discussed an 'ideal' number of cats for a judge.

Discussion about what to do with the surplus catering supplies.

- General Business
We have 15 wire cages for sale and we discussed who to offer them to, as a number of clubs have put their hands up.

Rangi and Miria Busby were voted on to the committee - welcome!

The club has been informally approached by a number of EC members for us to consider holding the National Show next year. The committee are certainly open to the idea and resolved to find out more information and then make a decision – soon ...

We still have cards and calendars for sale.

- Next Meeting: Wednesday 9th June 2015
-- Time: 7.30pm
-- Location: Rumour Has It Cafe, 305 Rangitikei St, Palmerston North

Cards and Calendars

At the show club fund-raising calendars and greetings cards were for sale and we still have some of these available for purchase from Emma Kimberley or Colleen White.

The calendars are $15 and are the same format as previous years.  The greetings cards are 5 for $10 or $2.50 each.  There are nine different photos in the greetings cards (three of them shown below). The cards are blank inside but have details of the cat's name, its breed, and the photographer on the back along with the club logo.  Each card comes with an envelope.

History Notes – 1958

Here is a page from the 1958 Palmerston North Cat Club show catalogue mentioning an early Abyssinian exhibit, Finisterre Zaria.  Zaria was in the first litter of Abyssinian kittens born in New Zealand on 27 January 1956.
