Committee Meeting – 14th July 2015

As usual, thanks to Kerry Holden for supplying the meeting notes for this section.

- National / 2016 Show
We spent some time discussing some preliminary necessities in regards to us hosting the National Show 2016.

We explored potential judges to approach for interest and availability.

We have pencilled in a booking at our venue and we discussed possible options for catering etc at this show.

Fundraising will be important, and necessary, so if anyone has ideas please feel free to share them with the committee, and all help will be much appreciated.

We will need to look at professional signage and expanding our marketing, through fliers etc and we intend to have a discussion with the likes of Destination Manawatu to explore options available to us.

General Business
Emma will create a flyer for Pet Essentials to give info on the club and membership.

We discussed some suggestions to put to the Executive Council in regards to their website, designed to assist new people who are looking for facts or information sheets in regards to what it means to be a registered breeder and how to become one, and also how to show your cat.

- Next Meeting: Tuesday 11th August 2015
-- Time: 7.30pm
-- Location: Rumour Has It Cafe, 305 Rangitikei St, Palmerston North

Show Results

Please tell us about your show results for the newsletter.  We are always interested in how the cats of Palmerston North Cat Club members are doing throughout the show season. Photos from the show(s) would be very much appreciated, too.

Stewards & Handlers Course

We'd like to gauge interest from the membership in whether there are people interested in attending a stewards and handlers course, if enough people were keen we would approach the Executive Council and offer to host one. If you are keen, please let our secretary, Colleen White, or assistant secretary, Emma Kimberley, know.

Fun Day - January 2016

We're exploring holding a Fun Day/Open Day in January next year, this will have an educational focus, learning about breeds, how to groom / prepare for a show, complete forms etc. More details will follow as we flesh this idea out more, but it would be great to get the wider membership's help on the day to share expertise and to join in to showcase our hobby.

History Notes – 1953

Some time ago I asked if anybody had copies of the 'Cats Monthly' magazine published locally by Dulcie Hore.  Here's what the front cover looked like, should you ever come across them!  (Image courtesy of John Smithson.)
