Annual General Meeting

The club AGM will be held on 26th February 2017 at 4pm at Not Now James in Ruahine Street.

Several current committee members have indicated that they will not be available for the committee for the coming year so we really need some new faces and new ideas for the committee. Likewise, several incumbent officers will not be standing for their current positions this year and the following positions will be vacant:
  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
If you want the Palmerston North Cat Club to continue to exist please support the club by attending the AGM and then join us for a meal and social time afterwards at Speights Ale House, 17 Grey Street.

Committee Meeting – 19th January 2017
Denise Grace

- Resignation
The committee is very sorry to have received from Kerry Holden a letter of resignation from the committee, effective immediately, and accept her resignation with regret. Kerry has made a huge contribution to the committee and to the club in the time that she has been on the committee, notably as Show Secretary for our big 60th Anniversary Show and also as Entry Clerk and Show Secretary for last year's successful National show. Her input will be greatly missed but we wish her well in her future endeavours.

- May Show
Further details for our May show were discussed, including finalising the schedule which should be able to be sent to the Shows Portfolio Manager very soon.

Donations for rosettes and/or prizes to assist the committee in running our usual standard of show would be most welcome. Rosette packages available are:
  • Quality Presentations Top Ten $85
  • Quality Presentations Breeders' Awards of Merit $38
  • Yvonne Pender Top Ten $55
  • Yvonne Pender Breeders' Awards of Merit $25

The following sections are available for sponsoring: Longhair Entire Cat & Kitten, Longhair N/S Cat & Kitten, Shorthair Entire Cat & Kitten. Shorthair N/S kitten, Longhair Domestic, Longhair Companion,  and Breeder's Awards of Merit.

Rob White has very kindly donated some beautiful trophies to be awarded to the Best Siamese and the Best Oriental in Ring One at this show and the winners of these will be able to treasure a very special memento.

History Notes – 1980

I have often felt that the 1980s seem to be the most difficult decade to research in New Zealand cat fancy history – possibly because it’s not quite recent enough that people have items from that era still loitering around, but not distant enough that people feel they need to make a special effort to preserve items.  Happily there are still copies of the 1980s Flash Cats magazine, and the September issue includes this show report.
