60th Show

I should make it clear that the 60th Palmerston North Cat Club Inc All Breeds Show is in 2014 – no doubt about that. I'm just asking myself why the 60th show is in 2014. The club was founded in 1951. If there was a show a year the 60th show would have been in 2010.

I've had a few suggestions about where the missing years might be and since I'm very interested in the history of the club I would like to follow this up. If you can help me, please get in touch.

Committee News

General:
In accordance with rule 5 of the constitution two committee seats were declared vacant.

Sub-Committee:
It was decided to form a sub-committee to review the club constitution rather than add this to the already busy committee meetings. Two areas already identified for review are:
-- the quorum and committee numbers with respect to the reduction in overall membership; and
-- changing the club’s financial year to fit better with the show ‘season’, with a subsequent change in timing of the AGM.

The sub-committee has been requested to report back before the May committee meeting.

Any club member interested in joining this sub-committee should contact the club secretary.

Show Business:
One of the US judges has had to withdraw and a search is underway for a suitable replacement.

In future we will ask judges for a report (on the show and the cats judged) which can be published in the newsletter.

Profiles of judges will be requested and published.

Another letter was sent to the Executive Council over the preferred date for future combined shows with the Burmese Cat Club of New Zealand Inc (Central Region).

Production of the show schedule is waiting on the replacement judge and judging approvals.

Started looking at judges for 2013 ... and 2014!

Next Meeting:
For summer, for something different, for a change of day and time so that other club members might join us, the next committee meeting will be held in the Esplanade – at Cafe Esplanade on a Sunday. We plan to buy ourselves some lunch, sit out in the sun (ever hopeful!), chat, socialise and finally get down to business.

All members are invited to join us for our ‘picnic’ in the park, either staying on for the committee business or heading away after your meal if you have a busy afternoon planned.

Next Meeting: Sunday, 12 February 2012
-- Time: 12 midday
-- Location: Cafe Esplanade in the Esplanade
