Jane the Very Junior Assistant Show Secretary

On Sunday morning (once we got in and the burglar alarms were silenced) I was given a rosette that said ‘Show Secretary’. I know it was a very small rosette but surely it should have said:

Very Junior Assistant Show Secretary

Please Do Not Ask Me Hard Questions

Luckily there were no hard questions but my interesting job ‘out the back’ meant I didn’t get much time to talk to all the exhibitors whose entry forms I had handled. I did intend to talk to everyone but I had no idea how busy the day would be. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch up with most of you at somebody else’s show.

Thanks

Thank you to all the people who helped with the set up, with the work on the day, and with the pack up. Also those who came along to the dinner at Nosh. This was a particularly large gathering and we enjoyed a lovely meal in the company of local and out-of-town exhibitors as well as our New Zealand and international judges.

Special thanks to Sheryll Sinclair for organising and supplying the judges’ gift boxes and an apology for omitting her from the ‘thank yous’ in the catalogue.

And, finally, a thank you pat-pat-pat for Ch Jaymlynkatz Perdita who did sterling service for the club by appearing on the front page of the Manawatu Standard looking like a drowned ... cat. Not the way a show cat cares to be photographed but it was a noble sacrifice to advertise the show. Well done, Perdy.

Two Palmerston North Cat Club members were winners in the Supreme:

-- Kendrick Earl of Taree (BRI A) was the Supreme Shorthair and is owned (and was bred) by Bryan Surgenor.

-- Limerick was the Supreme Domestic and is owned by K Johnston.

The club’s current strength is 43 members made up of:

Our members are spread as far afield as Hastings, Wanganui, Hunterville, and Levin.

Committee News

Show Business:

The scheduled meeting on Tuesday was delayed until Thursday 10th May because of other commitments among the committee members. A long show ‘debrief’ was held with one major problem to be followed up (the hall not being opened at the correct time) and a few minor issues being discussed with a view to possible improvements for next year.

The door take was considerably more than that in 2011 which was very pleasing.
