AGM Reminder

Supper provided. Did we mention that?

We hope all members of the club will attend the AGM in the Kenward Room of the Leisure Centre in Ferguson Street at 7.30, Wednesday 27th June. The committee will be arriving early to get the heaters stoked up and will be providing a supper afterwards for all the attendees.

If transport is a problem, please let a committee member know and we’ll see what we can arrange.

Apologies to the secretary but please remember we need ‘Twelve financial members to form a quorum’.

Flash Cats

It was great to see Palmerston North Cat Club members and their cats appearing in the 2nd Issue 2012 of Flash Cats magazine. Cairistona Burmese and Mandalay (Mush and Christine Yeung) provided several photos including the cover photo of Ch Cairistona Bella.

One of the other two photos from Cairistona was on page 13 (The Road to Mandalay) which shows Cairistona Blubelle (blue Burmese) on the left and Brz Dbl Gr Ch Cairistona Blue Lagoon (blue Mandalay) on the right. The other was reproduced in black and white on page 10 (More colours in the Burmese spectrum) and is of Ch Cairistona Ziva (ebony Mandalay) with her kittens.

Featured as Editor’s Choice was a photo of Gr Pr Jaymlynkatz E’Aengus (bred by Denise Grace) with his owners Rose and Faith Grantley.

Committee News

General:
A few tidying up issues from the show including the letter of complaint about getting the hall open on show day.

Our damaged cages need to be repaired.

The closed show format or the possibility of a later entry time for the public were discussed, both without any intent to make a decision at this point. The committee would be interested in hearing members’ opinions on this.

Show Business:
With the much increased door take over the 2011 show and the ability to share judges with Australian clubs, the committee has initiated consultation with neighbouring clubs with a view to making the first weekend in May our new ‘traditional’ date for the all breeds show.

Jane-the-Handler & Jane-the-Scribe

Thanks to two of our neighbouring clubs I now have two more pieces of on-the-job training under my belt.

The handlers I’ve watched have made the task look effortless but I soon discovered at the Taranaki Cat Club show that it’s nowhere near as easy as the experts make it appear! My apologies to the cats who were rather gracelessly hauled around while I was on my first outing as a handler. Scribing at the Wellington Cat Club wasn’t nearly as traumatic (for me or the cats) and I found it very enjoyable.
