Help Wanted – 24/25 August 2012

The Burmese Cat Club of New Zealand (Central Region) will be holding their show on Saturday 25th August at the Leisure Centre (569 Ferguson Street).

They would appreciate some help as follows:
-- Friday 24th: 2.30pm setting up
-- Saturday 25th: working on the door for a 2-hour shift

Please just turn up if you can on Friday but contact Christine about Saturday so that she can co-ordinate shifts.

Congratulations

- Hamilton Cat Club Show (July)
Congratulations to Diane Gaskin and her Sphynx Lucky Im Cruzinalong Bare who had a great show at Hamilton with two Best in Shows, one runner-up, and one third. Lucky Im Cruzinalong Bare was then awarded Supreme Shorthair.

Special General Meeting

Thanks again to those who turned up and helped us achieve our quorum for the SGM. We were able to approve the financial statements and pass the changes to the constitution which were circulated to all members with the last newsletter.

We have a new member this month, a vet tech student from Massey who has previously shown Somalis. Kate has also joined us on the committee.

Committee News

- General:
The EC decisions about our show dates were discussed.

A new member was welcomed to the club and committee.

The NZCF questionnaire was completed.

- Show Business:
Venues were discussed for both shows with the committee deciding not to expand into the Bell Hall (next to the Barber Hall) for 2013 but to consider it again for the 60th show in 2014. The March 2013 combined show cannot use the Leisure Centre and the Feilding Civic Centre was agreed upon as the venue, pending a quote for costs.

Another review of judges was needed for the May 2013 show since a change of show dates in Australia has meant our usual ‘share costs’ arrangement will not be available.

Format, sponsorship, prizes, rosettes, and judges for the March 2013 combined show were all discussed though some of this needs to wait on consultation with the Burmese Cat Club of New Zealand (Central Region).

Cost savings in motel bookings have been made by the Burmese Cat Club of New Zealand (Central Region) and it was suggested we investigate doing the same.

Bon Voyage, Jane!

I’m away for two months (September and October) so I will need some help getting the newsletter out. I’ve written instructions for our house (cat) sitters so they can print off and post the hard copies required, and asked one of the committee members to send me notes from the meetings I’ll miss for the ‘Committee News’ section, but I will need updates on how our Palmerston North cats are doing at the shows for the ‘Congratulations’ spots.

Don’t be shy! Email me as soon as you have a snippet of great show news so I’m not stuck in some corner of America wondering how I’m going to get the newsletter done without your news.

NZCF

- Palmerston North Show Dates
After consultation with the NZCF EC they have approved the change of our show date in 2013 to the first weekend in May (Sunday, 5 May). We intend this to be the new permanent Palmerston North show weekend.

Also approved was our ‘second’ show, combined with the Burmese Cat Club of New Zealand (Central Region), though only if held in March (16th March 2013 for Burmese, 17th March for us).
