May Show – Set Up / Pack Up

It’s that time again – our show is on this coming weekend and as usual we could do with some help.

Could we please have some extra hands to spread the load for the set up on Saturday and the pack up after the show closes on Sunday afternoon.  Nobody has to commit to staying until it’s done – even an hour or so will be much appreciated.

Saturday 4th: Set up from 8.30 am at Barber Hall.
Sunday 5th: Pack up after the show closes.

NZCF AGM and Post-AGM EC Meeting Report

Shocking weather on AGM day (13th April) but a there was a good turn out from our club (committee and members) with nine of us at the AGM.

The weather was (luckily) better on the Sunday for the post-AGM EC meeting where we hoped to iron out the ‘issues’ with the 2014 show date.  The improved weather was a blessing because the seven of us who were attending held a last-minute committee meeting in the car park.  In the end our strategising proved unnecessary as the EC duly confirmed our show date for 3rd and 4th May 2014.

May Show - Catering

A reminder to those attending the show that, because there are caterers at the venue our morning tea and lunch catering will be for workers and judges only.

The ‘Tea & Toast’ breakfast is still available to all the early risers!

Committee News - 9th April

- General:
-- An application to Pub Charity for funding to assist with hall hire costs will be made.

-- Investigating using free virus checking program on the new laptop as well as purchasing software and a surge protector for it.

- Show Business – May 2013:
-- The NZCF show paperwork package is being used.
-- Lower than usual number of entries, especially among the shorthairs.
-- Prizes reviewed after some additions and the arrival of the ProPlan sponsorship.
-- Approved a person to work in the kitchen for the morning tea and lunch for workers and judges.  (Committee members will man the kitchen for breakfast.)
-- Discussed hall set up and cage layout to see if the flow of the public around cages can be improved.
-- Discussed planned advertising; radio, newspapers, posters, signs.
-- Organised the Saturday night show dinner and the Sunday night meal for the judges.

- Show Business – May 2014 (60th All Breeds Show):
-- (At the time we were ...) ... still waiting for the EC to review their decision to not allow our show date.  Prospective judges and Australian clubs organising our judges have been advised of the decision date and that they will be informed as soon as we know.

- Next Meeting: Tuesday, 14 May 2013, show de-brief & committee meeting
