Jane's Newsletter from Afar
Like this time last year I’m away in the US and Canada doing more Ragdoll breed history research so your newsletter is being brought to you by the wonders of technology (wi-fi in the motel) and assistance from home (Denise sent me details of the committee meeting, my house sitters will printout and post the snail mail copies). Amazing!

More Sponsors Onboard
Please visit the webpage for our 60th All Breeds show in 2014 to see updates on sponsors and progress.
We much appreciate sponsorship from the following companies:
If any club members know of a business or company that might like to sponsor rosettes or provide prizes, please let one of the committee know and we’ll get somebody to follow it up.

Committee Meeting – 10 September 2013
Thanks to Denise Grace for sending me notes from the committee meeting.
- General:
-- We accepted with regret Kate Leveridge's resignation from the committee due to pressure of other responsibilities, thanked her very much for her contribution, and expressed the hope that she would come back when she had more available time.
- 2014 / 60th All Breeds Show:
-- Judges all finalised, including the judge for the Supreme Top Ten.
-- Excellent number of rosette sponsorships already promised.
-- Should hear about food sponsorship by the end of September.
-- Show schedule was looked at and some changes to be made to wording to clarify rules etc. Rules to be updated.
-- Several new large signs advertising the show to be made - help from anyone who has sign making skills would be much appreciated.
- Fund-raising:
-- First fund-raising BBQ done and dusted and it was very disappointing that no members offered to help. Next one is in November and will be notified in the October Newsletter so we hope for more help then.
-- Margaret had got another 10 calendars printed and only three left to sell as at the night of the meeting so three still available for members who may want one.
-- Judy brought along samples of ‘cat saks’ she had made for fundraising - these will be available to buy at future BBQ's and via Trade Me at a cost of $20 each.
-- It was decided to offer the voucher for two nights' accommodation with spa bath at B-K’s Motel as a raffle at a cost of $5 per ticket to be drawn after the December BBQ. Tickets available at BBQ's and to members - please contact Margaret.
- Next Meeting: Tuesday, 8 October 2013
-- Time: 7.00pm
-- Location: Meeting Room, McDonalds, Princess Street

Fund-raising and Helpers Required
It was pretty disappointing that there was little or no response to the requests for helpers for the first fund-raising barbecue because I’m sure each and every member of the Palmerston North Cat Club is old enough to know that being a ‘good member’ of any club or organisation is about more than just paying an annual sub.
None of the money raised in all these fund-raising efforts is financing a holiday to the Gold Coast for the committee! Right now it’s not even for the ‘extras’ we’d like to have for this special 60th show – we’re raising money for the basics and we do need the help of every member of the club, whether or not they live locally.
If at all possible please give your time by helping with events, like the barbecues.
And on that note we have two upcoming barbecue fund-raisers and we will need helpers for both of them:
- Saturday, 23rd November – Mitre 10
- Saturday, 14th December – Mitre 10
Please contact Margaret if you are able to help with these events.

2014 Cats Calendar
A big thank you to all those members who sponsored pages in the calendar or bought copies – or both. We have nearly sold out but could reprint them before the end of the year if we had firm orders so if you know people who are interested then let Margaret know.
For those of you who haven’t seen them they are hanging (wall) calendars, A4 when closed, A3 when open, and are of very nice quality. They are $15 each. To give people a preview we’ve popped a few of the ‘proof’ pages on the club’s blog.
