Wanted: Needed: Secretary and Committee Members

- Secretary:

One of the most important roles in the club is that of club secretary.  Some of you reading this will have already taken up this role for Palmerston North Cat Club, some may have been secretary in another club.  It is probably the one role we can't leave unfilled in the upcoming year so we are very much in need of a volunteer to take on this job.  It's not a life sentence, just a year of somebody's time so that the club can continue to run.

- Committee Members:

It's just basic maths: There's a certain amount of work for any show and the more people the work is divided amongst the easier the job is - for everyone.  The committee needs people to volunteer to be part of running the club and its annual show or eventually neither will be possible.  The committee meets one evening a month and, as well as some small administrative duties, the work is geared toward running the annual show.  We are always making an effort to allocate the work evenly and spread it throughout the year, but still need a certain number of people to make sure the bulk of the work doesn't fall on just a few.

Please consider giving a year of your time to the Palmerston North Cat Club and volunteering to be the secretary or a committee member for the 2014 / 2015 year.

Change of Judge

As mentioned in the last newsletter we found we suddenly needed as new judge as Kurt Vlach had to pull out due to unexpected work commitments.  We are pleased to announce that our new judge will be coming to us from the UK and is Phillipa Holmes.

Phillipa says:

I originally come from Edinburgh, Scotland, but when I qualified as a dentist I went to live on the south coast of England. I now live in a sleepy sea side town with my cats and dog. I'm lucky to work part time which allows me time for my fabulous hobby.

I started in the cat fancy in 1987. I breed Maine Coons - a breed I am quite passionate about. I have also owned Siberians, Norwegians, a Brit, Oriental SHs, Birmans and HHPs - the cleverest bunch. Currently I have Maine Coons and an Oriental LH.

I started showing my cats in 1990 in GCCF. I became a steward and worked in show management because it stopped me spending too much money and helped keep me out of trouble. I love running shows but best of all I love handling the cats. So I became a judge. I started in GCCF in 2000 and specialised in Semi-longhairs. I became a TICA judge in 2009 where I judge all breeds.

This will be my first visit to New Zealand. I'm thrilled to be invited.

Visit our 2014 Show page to read all of our judges' profiles.
