Committee Meeting – 11th August 2015
by Kerry Holden

Lots discussed again as we get right into the swing of planning for our 2016 show and we host the NZCF National.

- Marketing
The Committee would love to hear from any of our members who might have expertise in marketing or event management. We're hoping for a bit of guidance so we can ensure we are on the right track, and would appreciate any assistance we can get.

- Motels
Motels have had an initial approach to learn what we are planning so that they can think through and hopefully come on board so that there are plenty of options for out-of-town exhibitors.

- Stewards & Handlers Course
We have had a great response to those interested in attending a stewards and handlers course, so we will now pursue that with the EC. Watch this space!

- Fundraising
We will need to develop a robust fundraising effort, and phase 1 looks like it will be a Whittakers Chocolate fundraiser - YUMMO!!! Please let a committee member know if you're keen to buy some, and if you would like a box to sell at your workplace, to your friends - or to keep in the pantry. Please get in touch with Emma Kimberley to let her know.

- Judges
We finalised the judges we would like to have and now the details will be worked on, the proposed Judges will now go to the EC for approval and then invitations and contracts will go out soon.

- Show Treasurer
We are very grateful to Christine Vincent who has generously agreed to assist the Committee, and our Treasurer, by taking up the role of Show Treasurer for 2016.

- New Committee Member
We are very pleased to welcome Rosalie Heckler on to the committee, Rosalie has a very gorgeous domestic cat and it will be great to have our domestic section represented in this way. Thank you Rosalie!

- Next Meeting: Tuesday 8th September 2015
-- Time: 7.30pm
-- Location: Rumour Has It Cafe, 305 Rangitikei St, Palmerston North

History Notes – 1956

In an earlier issue this year (May 2015) the History Notes featured a page from the 1958 Palmerston North Cat Club show catalogue mentioning an early Abyssinian exhibit, Finisterre Zaria.  Zaria was in the first litter of Abyssinian kittens born in New Zealand on 27 January 1956 and here (despite her being called 'Naria' in error) is a photo of Zaria and her young exhibitor taken a couple of years before she appeared at the Palmerston North show.
