Sashima Coco

Congratulations to Palmerston North Cat Club members Genevieve Rogerson and Julie Hansen for the successes their Burmese enjoyed at the Hutt Feline / Pedigree Persian show in August.

Sashima Persia (lilac) was awarded 5th BIS, 6th BIS, 7th BIS, 3 x 8th BIS. She also got three temperament awards.

Spay Sashima Coco (seal) was shown by her owner, Trish. She got BIS, 3 x R/Up BIS, 4th BIS & 7th BIS.

It was Sashima Madagascar's (chocolate) day and she finally bet her best friend Sashima Melaka in most rings, getting 2 x R/Up BIS, 4th BIS, 5th BIS, 6th BIS and a BAM. Maddie also got two groomed and conditioned awards and a temperament award.

Sashima Melaka (lilac) got 3rd BIS, 6th BIS, and 3 x 7th BIS.

Sashima Rosella (lilac), shown in the entire cats by her owner, Christine Calder, got 8th BIS, 10th BIS, and a BAM.

(The father of all these cats is Ricway Monte Carlo bred by Erica Belland so are all a credit to her breeding.)

Our new baby and future stud boy Sabokah Nikao (breeder Carla Purcell) also had a very good show. He got 2 x BIS, 2 x 3rd BIS, 4th BIS, and a 10th BIS. He was also awarded a best temperament and a judge's choice awards.

Committee Meeting – 8th September 2015
by Kerry Holden

- 2016 National Show
Denise, Emma and Kerry attended part of the last EC meeting and met with the relevant portfolio managers to go over arrangements for the 2016 show. Some great progress was made and from that meeting our proposed judges were then subsequently approved by the EC and contracts were able to be sent out.

We are currently working on a theme for the Show that will encompass our local area and also represent what the Show is all about - the cats!

Advertising will be important and a number of options were discussed to get the word out, we'll need every club members help to spread the word about what a fabulous show we will be holding! Build some momentum and share the news, Palmerston North Cat Club will put on an awesome show!

We discussed sponsorship and are close to securing our major sponsor. (Post-meeting we were thrilled to be able to confirm ProPlan has agreed to sponsor us once more.)

We discussed options for prizes. Every year some very generous Club Members donate for our show - thank you all so much, it really makes a difference! If you would like to donate this year please get in touch with our President and Prize Co-ordinator, Denise Grace, so we can factor it in to our planning.

We hope to have many stalls next year, to add interest to the exhibitors and public, if you would like a stall or you know someone who would like to have a stall can you please let them know to contact Judy James to register their interest.

- Fundraising
As some of you may know, we have a chocolate fundraiser selling Whittakers chocolate. So far this is proving VERY popular, and easy to sell. Please consider taking a box and selling it to your family members, workmates, school friends etc Please let Emma Kimberley know if you could do this for us. It's a very effective fundraising tool, and we need everyone to get involved.

On that note, if you have some fundraising ideas, can you please let a committee member know. All ideas considered!

One idea that has been thought of to raise money for our show is firewood. If you know of some trees that would be suitable (perhaps come down on a farm and need clearing) please let Paul Holden know, 354 9521 or 021 541 755.

- Handlers and Stewards Course
We will be hosting a NZCF Handlers and Stewards course in November (awaiting confirmation of date) this will be a full day course, with a shared lunch, tea and coffee supplied. Please contact Emma Kimberley to let her know you would like to do the course and then she can liaise directly with you in regards to details, also watch the Facebook page if you have access to that for updated news. This will also be designed as a refresher for those who may have completed the course some time ago.

- Christmas Cards
If you have photos of your cats with a Christmas theme that you would like to share for Christmas Cards can you please contact Emma Kimberley.

Next Meeting: Tuesday 13th October 2015
- Time: 7.30pm
- Location: Rumour Has It Cafe, 305 Rangitikei St, Palmerston North

History Notes – 1969

This is the back cover from the 1969 show schedule (courtesy Betty Green) for the 17th All Breeds championship show held on 14th June.  Sadly I don't have the catalogue for that year but this delightful document with its exhortation to join the club does also supply historical information about the membership fees of the day ranging from $1.10 for husband and wife through to 28 cents for each additional junior!
